I plan to commute 1–3 times per week when weather allows.
I take my wife riding about 1–2 times per month.
I also go camping and riding 1–3 days per month, often leaving directly from home, solo or with another rider.
I usually ride with KTM 500 EXC riders.
I own a KTM 500 EXC that is fully set up for adventure with suspension tuned for a full camping load, and while loaded I can keep up with fast riders.
My hope is for the T7 to fully replace my KTM 500 EXC.
As the T7 is mostly stock I am able to stay in pace with my off-road riding group, but I’m not carrying full camping gear yet because the suspension bottoms out even with all 25 clicks of adjustment.
Most of my riding is on double-track, but I actively look for single-track whenever possible, as long as it’s not extreme enduro.
Age 56, 178 lb, 5' 11''. Riding gear = 18 lb
Camping gear, 80l Mosko bags = 50-60 lb
I’m considering running two full wheel sets:
Use OEM rims
MotoZ Tractionator GPS front and rear
This set will handle most of my miles, including commuting and BDR trips and local camping trips from when I am riding from home.
Drop-in ready using only OEM axle and nut
Cush drive rear hub
3-inch rear rim
MotoZ RallZ or Desert H/T rear
Moose insert for off-road use - I like it, but again, consider a 2.5 in rear and 140 tire if you plan to run moose's
My biggest concern is avoiding poor purchase decisions that lead to buying suspension twice. I’m looking for setup guidance that will: If you want to increase travel, the options get a bit more specialized and get more expensive. Let me know what your budget is just for suspension mods and I'll do my best to stay within it and give you options...
Support the bike fully loaded with camping gear
Handle my riding speed and terrain
Avoid harsh bottoming or under-damping
Remain reliable for the long term
If possible, increase travel.
We discussed K-Tech as being the recommended product. Given that the components are "drop-in" do you have recommendations on who can perform the work?
Would you change your recommendation based on my riding profile?
Do you have any information/experience with T-Tech (https://ttechsuspension.com/yamaha-tenere-700)
I’m patient and willing to wait to buy the right solution.
I care more about reliability and quality than frequent upgrades.
I intend to keep this bike long-term if it continues to perform and stay dependable.

2025 AXP bash plate - Retail is $309.95, your price is $263.46 - Backorderd until Jan 15th.
Camel ADV, High Fender Kit - You have to go direct to Camel ADV, we are not a dealer, nor are they adding dealers at the moment. Also, last I checked, they are not shipping to the US because of the Tariff situation. Unfortunately, I don't have an alternate solution for this...
Acerbis, Fender 2006-09 YZ/WR Black 2040510001 - Retail is $32.95, your price is the same unfortunately...there just isn't enough margin in this item to discount.
Doubletake 4.7 Adventure Set - Retail is $136, your price is $115.60
RTech Radiator Scoops, Grey Plastic - You have to go direct, we are not a dealer with them.
Frame Protector (Rtechmx, Acerbis) Can't get Rtechmx, and unfortunately neither of our suppliers can get the Acerbis X-Frame Protectors :(
Chain Guides (Acerbis) Retail is $94.95, your price is $75.96
Depending on cost, these may be delayed:
Rims (front, rear) full set, drop-in ready, RallZ, Moose - There are a few options for wheels. DID VS Excel rim, regular spokes vs heavy duty spokes, Let me know.
Suspension (front, rear) undecided on solution
Veridian Cruise Control - You'd have to go direct, we can't get this.
2025 YAMAHA TENERE 700 Quick Shifter - This is a dealer item, unless you want to go aftermarket, please let me know.
Sprocket + Chain - To be determined after - I would definitely go with a Superlight 520 Conversion and a DID VX3 chain. Retail is $250, your price is $212.50. Add $15 for Gold plated chain, and add another $15 dollars if you want a hard anodized rear sprocket vs lightweight steel.
